In 2007, the young people of Dukesfield joined together with Neighbourhood Pride once again to work on “DIY Dukey”, an arts project, to brighten up the subway tunnel at Runcorn’s Top Locks. The group worked closely with community artist Steve des Landes to create and paint a mural on the walls of the subway. Steve also used photos from the group to also create 2 sculptured steel panels, representing people and places of Dukesfield. The group also gained £5000 from Halton Youth Bank to make a professional DVD of the project as a keepsake of their hard work and as a community toolkit for use by other groups who may want to carry out similar work.
